15% growth in the number of tourists to Syria

The tourism sector generated for Syria around 115 billion Syrian Pounds in revenues. For 2005, whereby the number of tourists arriving to Syria reached 3.4 million during 2005 excluding the number of expatriates, with an increase of 15% compared to 2004.
Also, the ministry of tourism announced that the distribution of tourism investments was more balanced during 2005, as it was mainly based in Damascus during the past years.
